Scott is a people person who is very passionate about helping others. He finds it very empowering to help someone make educated decisions about their financial future. Scott has a unique way of educating his clients. He strives to simplify complicated concepts like investments, retirement, and pensions, by drawing pictures and using common terminology. Many of his clients have switched from another adviser because of his ability to talk TO them, rather than AT them. 

Scott worked in the golf industry before he switched over to the financial world. "I enjoyed the golf business tremendously," he states. "Planning and organizing leagues and outings, creating an enjoyable experience for 200 people every day, managing your staff to be on the same page - it provided many of the building blocks for my practice today." As a husband and father, Scott knows the importance of having financial stability and works hard to help his clients plan for a successful retirement, no matter what their financial situation may be.

When Scott is not at work, you will find him with his family at the ballpark watching baseball. He is also a die-hard Detroit Lions fan. Scott is active in the American Legion and is serving as President of the American Legion Boat and Canoe Club Council. In addition, Scott enjoys spending time at Bills Lake and is his 35th year playing recreational slow-pitch softball.

Todd started his professional life in education. He worked as a teacher for 12 years, with six years as his district’s union president, before deciding to make a career change and work with people in a different environment. Drawing from his background in education, Todd is dedicated to helping his clients plan for a successful future. Todd investigates both investment and insurance products to help his clients build a solid foundation for their family’s financial household.

Outside of the office, Todd loves playing his guitar around the house and planning travel adventures with his wife. He can sometimes be found at an open mic night or singing karaoke. He also plays hockey in a local men’s league.

When David was in school, his focus was on business and management. After college, David was a Director of Operations at the Amway Grand Plaza and Director of Food and Beverage Operations for the Marriott Hotels. When he joined the Financial Services industry, David was a assistant GM and sales manager with Prudential of West MI and New England Financial prior to joining GLP as Regional VP. His attention to detail has served him well throughout his career. David is a highly-esteemed Financial Representative with over twenty-five years’ experience.

David’s most memorable moments in life were the birth of his children. He is focused on caring for others, which is one reason why he is such a good advisor. David’s hobbies include SCUBA diving, boating, camping and Traveling with his wife and children. He grew up in a family of 8, all of which reside in Michigan

 

Sarah serves as the Administrative Assistant to Matt Wynalda and David Sawinski, providing vital support through email management, appointment scheduling, document processing, and direct coordination with investment companies to ensure timely and efficient client service.

With a diverse background spanning corporate administration, payroll, photography, and entrepreneurship, Sarah brings a unique blend of creativity, attention to detail, and professionalism to her role. She began her career as an administrative assistant while studying photography, later transitioning into payroll work at a janitorial service company. After starting a family, she ran her own in-home daycare before returning to the corporate world—where she found her professional stride once again.

Since joining our team in 2018, Sarah has become an indispensable part of our office. She is happily married with two children and two golden retrievers. Outside of work, she enjoys camping with her family in their truck camper and takes every opportunity to enjoy the outdoors—especially hunting and fishing.

Lindsay began her career in early childhood education, working as an Assistant Instructor at Grand Rapids Community College’s Laboratory Preschool after earning her degree in Child Development. She later transitioned into a medical office environment as a Medical Receptionist at an eye care clinic, where she also assisted with light clinical duties. In 2024, she joined GLP with enthusiasm, eager to apply her administrative expertise and continue growing her skills with an awesome team by her side.

Outside of the office, Lindsay is likely off exploring the world. She and her husband are always chasing their next travel thrill—preferably one with a mountain to hike and a view worth the climb. A true coffee enthusiast, she’s often found at local coffee shops sipping an iced latte (even in the dead of winter). She also values life’s simple pleasures: reading a good book, taking care of her many houseplants, and soaking up time with her friends and family.

Marcy is the friendly voice you’ll hear when you call our office and the helpful hand behind the scenes, making sure everything runs smoothly. As Administrative Assistant to David Sawinski, Marcy handles a wide range of responsibilities, including answering phones, responding to emails, processing paperwork, and ensuring that every client receives the attention and support they need.

Before joining our team in 2023, Marcy spent 26 years as a dedicated 1st-grade teacher. Her early retirement led her to us, and she’s been a perfect fit—bringing warmth, efficiency, and a great sense of humor to the office every day.

Outside of work, Marcy enjoys spending time at the beach, attending concerts, traveling, and gathering with her close circle of friends. A devoted dog lover, she shares her home with a golden retriever and a lab who keeps life full of fun and fur.

Julie has been with GLP since 2013 and, after retiring three years ago, returned in a part-time capacity to assist with special projects and continue supporting our clients. She also serves as the Deputy Clerk and Cemetery Coordinator for Maple Valley Township.
